Pros

Many smart people with good intentions and operate with integrity.

Cons

The few not-so-capable executive managers who surround themselves with incompetent people in order to support personal agendas, and not the customer. The servers, technology, and supporting processes are antiquated and unless OCIO management changes, the employees will continue to be trapped on the hamster wheel, spending a majority of their time putting out fires and not able to proactively providing solutions to the customer. The OCIO Services layer was added; positions filled with employees who didn't perform on previously-assigned projects, yet fed the OCIO's ego and did his dirty work, so were promoted two or three levels without warrant. This "Services" group adds project managers to manage projects for which there is no funding, and customer relationship managers to manage unhappy customers as a result of the OCIO continued deprecation of services without communication to the service providers or the customers. All the while, the capable, passionate people providing the solutions and excellent service to the customer are being harassed or forced out. The lack of transparency, the open harassment, and fear-based "leadership" results in unmotivated, paralyzed employees, and an overall toxic environment.

Cons

Difficult political climate effects funding for the Lab There is a lot of infighting/bickering, sometimes it seems like a 'turf war'. If people tried to play nice in the sandbox with each other we could get a whole lot more done Aging infrastructure Distrust in management
