Pros

Good pay, rarely work over 40 hours, excellent benefits including 401k, small company (under 125 employees at last count) so everyone knows each other. Upper management makes an effort to get to know everyone in the company. The vast majority of employees are friendly and hard-working. Groups will often go to lunch together. You get fed alot... lots of office luncheons. :) The new CEO is excellent and I believe he will be implementing changes to make it a more "modern" company in terms of structure as well as work-life benefits. The last I heard, he was adding more sick days as well as making some changes to Holidays that will be more welcoming of different religions. The pros are worth it if you can deal with the cons.

Cons

Limited sick days, no work-from home, and therefore not a great place for single parents. This is such a specialized industry that there is little to no opportunity for your skills gained there to transfer to another job. This is definitely a "traditional" company. They value the company hierarchy and make sure you know your place in it. To me, the biggest Con at an otherwise amazing company is that some of the older staff are uncomfortable with diversity. It can be an oppressive or at least awkward environment if you are not a white, heterosexual, politically conservative, Christian. This is not true for most of the staff, but the few who are intolerant of others unfortunately tend to be in positions of power and excel at keeping their bigotry in check on paper and when upper management comes around. My suggestion is that if you decide to work here (you should!), don't divulge personal information to anyone over 50 until you really get to know them. Or you could just wait a few years until they retire! The organization also lags behind in technology and many older members of staff fear change because they don't want to have to learn anything new. Updates are being made (like computers were finally upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 in 2015). Middle management seems to be threatened by competent subordinates as well as technology they don't understand, but I believe with the new CEO in place that could change. I know these are some big cons, but if you can look past them in the meantime, this will be a great place to work within the next few years.

Thank you for taking the time to review our company. SMC³ has spent much of the beginning of 2016 making changes that allow for a more flexible workplace and updating policies. There are still some changes to come and we are in the process of doing that. We as a company do not tolerate any kind of discrimination. While we strive to have an environment where everyone feels equal, as in all companies sometimes instances are missed if not brought to the leadership's and HR's attention. The oppressive environment that is mentioned in the above review is something we take seriously and do not allow in our company. Once again, thank you for the feedback as we strive to continue to grow as a company and be an employer brand of choice.

Pros

Great benefits, stellar staff, competitive pay, beautiful facilities, remote work/hybrid, great technology, tons of employee perks

Cons

You have to be disciplined - the pace and demands can overwhelm you. Not for the faint of heart or lazy. Some oddly strict policies from legacy leaders and mindsets that haven't relaxed (dress codes, butt in seat time, etc.)
