The company values and supports its employees on every front. The leadership is second to none. Company is very supportive and pro-active in employee development. I just cannot say enough great things about this company.

Cons

My workplace is fairly remote; so the commute is a bit of a drag. The government customer is challenging to work with. Its still the best culture I have ever worked in.

I know Edwards AFB is remote and can be a tough commute for many, so we really appreciate your dedication and all the commuting time to ensure we meet the mission requirements of our customer! We strongly believe in employee development and spend a great deal of money and resources annually towards trainings, exams, dues/fees and training time for our employees. Overall my time with SMS has been exceptionally well. I am attending school full time and managment has been fantastic working with my school schedule. Communication is solid at work, and coworkers are great in helping one another complete or resolve tasks at hand. Overall a great experience for those who are looking for a work/life balance. I should also note that they encourage us to update our resumes on an annual bases, which coming from a contractor job is great because at the end of the day you can't always guaurantee the next year. They of course do all they can to maintain their contract, however it's nice to know that they also do their best to look out for their employees in case of the worst.

Cons

With a solid work/life balance comes a cost, lack of career opportunities. They do have positions available online but of course the training for those positions must be done outside of business hours. They do offer to reimbuse employees for certification exams as well as tuition assistance however, so they do contribute growth to some extent.

We do require all employees to update their resumes annually, however it's in the best interest of SMS and our employees.
