Pros

I am paid very well. 401K is better than no 401K.

Cons

You receive no training because the company has no money for anything except boots on the ground. You can't get new equipment if it's not for the SPOs, not even equipment to maintain IT security. You have to help the SPOs as an admin personnel by completely shifting your daytime hours and help the guards/wana-be Navy Seals do overnight training. Which I guess would make my first complaint invalid, if you are a SPO you get training, anyone else in the admin department, no training. Everyone seems to be in it for themselves in the IT department, almost like they are ensuring job security. We've been spread out by 60 miles and there is no sense of team work. If you work out in the boondocks, there's only a crappy cafeteria, no decent dining area within the facility. If you don't bring it, you wont eat it. Unless you crave over priced, unhealthy cafeteria food. Then you'll be happy. They give you a measly $20 remote pay when it costs anywhere from $75-100 a week in gas to drive out to the site. I know, at least $20 is something, but it's not enough to keep me happily employed when I am literally paying to go to work. (Yes, I chose this job, but I was also told it would be 50/50, half the time in town, the other half out at the site, I'm working on a way out as we speak). Lies. I wasn't told about the quarterly overnight exercises; I wasn't told I'd be driving two hours EVERY day; I WAS told I'd get all kinds of training to be great at my job. Lies. the only ones that have stuck around are those old timers that think "that's what you do, stick around for the money." But these older folks get in ruts, job security mantras, only causing bitterness for others coming in fresh and new. And the company doesn't get rid of the useless ones, nope, there is definitely job security once you get your clearance. They need and keep bodies. (Is that a Pro?)

Pros

I received great bonuses while in the "correct" salary band

Cons

SOC is a lot of "fluff" they say all the right things - but don't stand behind what they say. This is a direct contradiction to the parent company tag line of "We do what we say"
