Pros

Mid-sized company that is family-owned so they have a vested interest in your success and they truly care about their employees. Very approachable at the top levels. Fewer approval layers so less red tape. Encouraged to think outside the box to work more effectively and efficiently. Employees, for the most part, all get along famously and are very helpful across the various departments/divisions. HR makes the effort to build and maintain employee morale. Good pay and benefits. Fast-paced work environment so not for the faint of heart but this is a government contracting company so you have to move at the client's pace and not yours. Interesting that a good number of former employees who complained the loudest, have either returned to the company or have attempted to return.

Cons

Some of the pros work against them. Because it's a mid-sized company, some positions don't offer room for growth since the number of jobs is limited - but just the nature of the beast. Encouraged to think outside the box but those not comfortable outside the box are usually those who also resist change and turn it into a negative. Fast-paced environment not for everyone.

Immigration court interpreter

Pros

Some schedule flexibility, direct deposit, opportunity to acquire experience in interesting, challenging court environment.

Cons

Pays way below industry standard pay rates, non-negotiable. Advice to qualified applicants: Compare offered pay rates to those listed on the Administrative Office of U.S. Courts website and/or your state's pay rates for certified court interpreters. Profound lack of professionalism and non-courteous treatment of language professionals, few breaks, high pressure, no team interpreting. Out of town assignments can sometimes result in a net operating loss for applicants, due to poor compensation rates and unreimbursed travel expenses. Overall, a company to avoid due to extremely poor interpreter treatment and unorganized, incompetent, rotating management.

Pros

STG and Global Defense entered into a business combination last year. There has been a lot of turnover in the management team with a few chief level people still holding on ... but not for long.

Cons

The company is not winning new business and is struggling to keep its current contracts.
