Pros

For me it was the location - 10 mins ride to work was amazing - but this would not apply to everyone.

Cons

Horrible benefits all around - from time off to medical which had very high deductibles and only 75% coverage. I had the worst manager of my career by FAR which pushed me out of there after a year. I would have left sooner if my home life would have allowed. The discouraging part was to find out that I was the 3rd or 4th analyst to leave due to this manager. The pattern and feedback to HR did not change a thing - in fact, she was promoted.

Pros

There is a lot of large project work and the IT work is very broad company wide. Lateral movement is possible. Pay is fair and minor salary bumps are common despite the economic downturn.

Cons

Management is terrible. Every team is understaffed and overworked, just hoping not to be laid off. Business leaders are actively trying to cut employees in every way possible. Questionable if there is any sustainable business model for the future. Managers veto vacation days regularly. Dress code and conduct seems to be a moving target. Some good talent has been cut despite teams carrying dead weight in management and business roles. Business side employees are clueless and territorial. Office conditions are dungeon-y.

Pros

It used to be the positive culture and room for growth. However, nothing matters anymore now than increasing compensation for a tone deaf CEO who, along with his handpicked leadership team, is in over their heads and take zero accountability for their poor and destructive business decisions.

Cons

Sallie Mae executive leadership will pay you less than the industry average, work you to the bone, and have no appreciation for your sacrifices. All that matters is what more can you do? You will be asked to cancel PTO, work through lunch, and even work on the weekend because every week more employees are fired and then you absorb their work without promotion or any pay increase.
