Losing touch with customers, Eliminating benefits

Pros

There are a lot of really good employees, but lack of trust and poor decision making by upper management suppresses their ability to create superior products.

Cons

They've eliminated all maternity benefits, Claim to care about diversity and eliminating racial bias, but refuse to fund basic materials that make learning more accessible by all students, unless they're white and speak English. Incredibly low to innovate. Success isn't measured by quality of materials, but by relative sales compared to competitors.

This quote from “Dare to Lead” describes Savvas perfectly. I experienced everything listed in this paragraph: “...when the culture of a corporation...mandates that it is more important to protect the reputation of that system and those in power than it is to protect the basic human dignity of individuals or communities, you can be certain of the following problems: Shame is systemic. Complicity is part of the culture. Money and power trump ethics. Accountability is dead. Control and fear are management tools. And there is a trail of devastation and pain. This culture is perpetuated from the very top down, and people are not valued for their opinions, talent or contributions. The only thing that matters is the amount of money won.

Savvas Learning Company is truly an amazing place to work for so many reasons. For starters, I feel incredibly supported. Every single member of my team has my back and goes above and beyond to set me up for success. My manager is very thoughtful about getting me the training I need and making sure that I understand how to do my job well. Also, I find my work intellectually stimulating and satisfying. I am always learning something new . On top of that, I am incredibly proud to work for a company that takes such good care of its customers.

Cons

There are no cons. I plan on staying at Savvas for the rest of my career.
