Pros

Salary and bonus are higher than most companies.

Cons

Fear culture (keep your head down, do not question status quo) constant old fashioned reporting, good ole boys club (sexist, spoken to like you are a child, very unprofessional environment) vacation time (frowned upon when you take vacation, old employees brag about not taking vacation in years etc), not forward thinking (I was told in interview I would be part of the new regime and would bring my expertise and experience to the role and help facilitate change. That is laughable. They do not want any change), a lot of talk about culture (from what I can tell, the “culture” is to keep your head down), HR is a joke. The CEO signs off on everything. And I mean everything. As a manager you will not be authorized to make any decisions. With 10 years experience in this industry, the State Manager position seemed entry level. The money wasn’t worth the constant daily beating you receive. Most of my peers were very unhappy and in constant fear.

Pros

Good pay, great benefits, fun products

Cons

Way too much micromanagement, I currently spend more time reporting the sales calls than time spent actually seeing customers.

Pros

Great Company for these type of employees: 1.) You are completely desperate for a job and cannot get a job anywhere else and you are about to lose everything you own. 2.) You are fresh out of college and have zero working experience because Sazerac is willing to hire anyone at this point and I mean ANYONE. There are very few talented people left at this company. 3.) The only word out of your mouth is "yes", They want yes people and will preach the term 'managerial courage' but the moment you have that you will have a target on your back. 4.) You love not being paid out on expenses/bonuses on time and those bonus goals are changing every half so you never know what you're actually working towards.

Cons

Where to start with the cons... 1.) You will start off by being lied to by HR, they will say whatever they need to in order to fill a role. I heard lies from employees that range from being told they will get multiple raises throughout the year to you will get promoted within 12 months. It's all lies and the best part is most of the HR people that lied to you won't be at the company in 6 months so there's no repercussions for their lies. 2.) I have seen people work at this company for over 2 years and still not even be sent to the distillery to see what Buffalo Trace is all about but they have no problem sending university hires who are straight from school on a week-long vacation so they can get drunk and make fools of themselves. 3.) This company is 100% anti-union. The company caught wind that MDRs might be forming a union so they held a propaganda meeting telling everyone how bad unions are and if we form a union we'll end up losing all our rights (like we had any in the first place!) 4.) This organization is infested with insecure and unstable managers that will do/say anything to get themselves to the next level. They hire all these unqualified people from the outside and can't understand why the culture is so toxic. 5.) This company does nothing to develop talent. They have a "career" system and all it is is an obstacle for you when applying for jobs, They only want you to have one career path and that's whatever they say it is. 6.) This company makes fantastic bourbon and whiskey. However despite what HR says, you will never be able to sell it. You will be a Fireball and cheap liquor sales person that people only buy from you to get bourbon. This company won't even give you a bottle of Buffalo Trace for Christmas, it's pathetic.
