      Tough place to work

      Pros

      Huge portfolio of brands and a great lineup of bourbons. Bonuses can be great if you are lucky enough to be on the IP plan. Tremendous growth in company, but resulting in a shift of the company culture (and not for the better).

      Cons

      This company is void of diversity, starting at the top. There is a general lack of trust and respect across all levels in the company. Relationships are not valued - internal or external. Teamwork and feedback across departments is not supported. It is very much a do-what-I say culture. Most people just keep their heads down and do what they are told in fear of losing their job. It is a dog-eat-dog environment and that is the way the management team likes it.

      Pros

      Mark Brown did amazing things for the company, creating homeplaces for distilleries and capitalizing on the boom in bourbon and bourbon tourism. Current CEO Wenz is interested in Fireball and cheap commodity brands, not in premium products the company was known for and has established itself as a leader in for decades. Part of the same issue is a focus only on dollars and no longer on employees. The entire environment of the company changed with Jake and the new leaders he has brought in and not for the better.

      Cons

      Long hours, no personal/work/life balance. You are always expected to be on. The review process and employee development was over the top.

      Pros

      Highly sought after and awarded bourbon portfolio. Potential compensation.

      Cons

      No work/life balance. Very little upward trajectory. This is not a place to “challenge norms.” You’re better off keeping your mouth shut and head down. It’s difficult when the only carrot dangling is the potential of a big bonus.
