Pros

People: Every single person at the company is accessible, relatable and committed. Need help? Ask ANYONE and they'll assist or point you to the right person. Benefits: Wow...the bene's are the best I've seen to date! PTO, volunteer time, dental, vision, 401k - all of the norms but better! Work Environment: Most employees are work from home, as I am. This could be a Con for some who like the social aspect, but who doesn't want the convenience of walking to your own kitchen for food. Career progression: Schellman offers career paths for its employees. For example, you can stay technical and become a technical lead OR go management and become a manager

Cons

The only con (and this is perspective) is the time it takes to choose a career path. Example: Newbies have to wait two years to go management. I have a management degree and I've been in management for over 20 years. Being new to the company, I have to wait two years to move up.

Overall Good Firm Struggling with Growth and Change

Pros

Overall the benefits package is top notch across the board with great PTO, 401k match, insurance, and internal programs. The ability to work from home and the general work-life balance has always been a strong spot and those continue to differentiate Schellman. Internally, there are a lot of great people who work at the firm and that helps to create a very positive culture. New standards, frameworks, and compliance requirements have opened doors to move within the firm and take on new opportunities as they arise.

Cons

The increased focus on growth and driving value has led to a challenging transitional period for the firm. The implementation of many new technologies and processes have been rocky at best with certain rollouts feeling forced before things are truly ready for deployment. Workloads have continued to increase with promises of more efficient operations taking on some of that burden, without that truly materializing.

A lot of changes

Pros

The amount of time off is one of the best if not the best. Management encourages the pursuit of certifications and tries to work with our schedule to help with our success. I do see the quality in our work and makes me proud to be part of this firm.

Cons

There's been a lot of changes implemented as of late. A lot of new metrics have also been introduced which makes it feel like we're losing the core of what Schellman is. The factors that use to make us stand out against our competitors are being phased out and I don't appreciate it. I chose Schellman because we were so unique but we're slowly transforming into every other company. Compensation could be a bit more competitive as well.
