The accounting job you want

Pros

Since joining the firm just a few years ago, there have definitely been a lot of changes that happened very quickly. But they have been for the better. Working in the professional services industry with technology companies, we had to eventually make some drastic changes to our processes - and I think we are starting to see the rewards of our hard work already. Pros: - Upper management is very transparent - Benefits are among the best in the industry - Work life balance is very attainable - Opportunities to advance your skills - Co-workers are very knowledgeable and willing to help

Cons

While a lot is great, there are always going to be downsides as well: Cons: - Some engagements are much more cumbersome than others - Compensation seems to not align with industry standards in some cases - Experiences here can be region dependent - Can feel some of the PE "squeeze" for efficiency

Pros

Schellman is the best place I have ever worked. The firm offers excellent benefits, opportunities to grow and excel, and a friendly and engaging team culture. 10% 401k match, over eight weeks of PTO between the various offerings (flexible PTO, firm shut downs, holidays, etc.), fully paid healthcare, and the company trip are just a few.

Cons

Public accounting / consulting comes with its own unique challenges. Project stack happens, working with disorganized clients is challenging, and the work can be spikey; that said, the culture at Schellman helps offset these.

Great Company and Great Culture

Pros

Schellman has generous benefit packages and PTO. For the most part, management gives you the freedom to do your job with little to no micro-managing, but they are available when you need them. This has been hands down the best company I have worked for.

Cons

Benefits are slowly being pulled back and there has been high turn over of staff at director and above levels, making it hard to tell what this company is going to look like in a few years. They are very secretive when people get fired, leaving our imaginations to run wild.
