Pros

Good place to get experience in the industry including backing skills in tight places if you go with the Van division, though Flatbed and Bulk also have their fair share. Dbls are nice. Trucks are decent and have inverters and apus. Pay is good too.

Cons

Biggest thing as of Mar. 30th is the home time. They cut it on a rotational basis. So instead of just being 11 on and 3 off it's now 11/3 one outing, then 12/2 the next and it's mandatory. They won't send road service for apu repairs so expect to freeze or roast if you have a problem. Lots of fellow drivers don't do inspections and leave defects unreported. You get left in the dark a lot about things, even by the nice dbls. You ask about something but they won't tell you or help you. Some of the staff for the gates at some yards act like you are disturbing their sleep just by needing in or out. No driver camera "in the truck" but the tablet can be used for that purpose anyway and they do. And lastly, the trucks have a bluetooth system to play the tablet sounds over the truck speakers. It's terrible though since the device, Aware from Perkeys, has no security. Anyone can connect if you tablet is disconnected and use it to harass you. I had to unplug mine from behind the radio and it's still out because it's not worth losing a night's rest over.

Thanks for the review and feedback. Our driver leaders and all associates work for our drivers. You are the backbone of this company and we appreciate all of our driver's hard work. We know trucking can be tough and that's why we have a huge initiative to make the driver experience even better at Schneider. Drive safe!

Pros

They always paid on time.

Cons

Sometimes would withhold money you earned and feign ignorance. Does not care about getting you home or home on time. Adopts the driver is always wrong mentality if literally anything is wrong. Takes forever to get a hold of someone to resolve issues. Must be willing to break the law and take all liability if you're caught. They intentionally make their pay breakdown and stubs hard to understand so they can screw you out of money.

Pros

This was my second time with Schneider, and as before, I drove for the Bulk Division. Their infrastructure and support system are well developed. They have great terminals and repair shops, with almost everything you might need. Pay per mile was above the industry average, particularly for new drivers. They also had a fair accessorial pay rate, except they had raised their off-load pay only $10 in the past 20 years while keeping their loading pay the same. Their tractors appeared to be no older than three years.

Cons

It doesn't do any good to have a good mileage pay rate, if your assigned miles are lacking. For 2019, and on into 2020, I averaged about 1500 miles per week. The excuse was that the 25% tariff on Chinese imports was putting a squeeze on demand. I follow such things, so I believe that was a valid reason, Even so, Schneider continued to hire at a rate that stressed their training staff. That put too many drivers on the board seeking too few available miles. So, drivers quit. Every single driver from my class of 30 quit within a year, except for me and one other. The main reason: Not enough take-home to pay their bills and support their family. I wouldn't have made it either, except that my car was paid for, and I lived out of the truck and the occasional l motel room.
