Pros

- Ability to take time off when you need it -Half off books (which isn't really a pro when you consider that you are probably paying more with your 50% discount than you would if you just ordered it from Amazon or Barnes and Noble)

Cons

Where do I begin: - There is no upward mobility. There are NO opportunities to advance. You will go nowhere, no matter how much the managers and supervisors lie to you... -If you are thinking that you can get "your foot in the door" for better opportunities by starting in the warehouse, think again. Once you start in the warehouse you will stay in the warehouse- no matter how many degrees you have. This isn't a stepping stone, it's quicksand. -Supervisors and Managers will flat out lie about opportunities in order to hire and retain people. They will promise you all sorts of things (ie extra money for receiving a stock picker certification..) it will NEVER happen, don't believe it. -Starting pay (at least in my region) is $9.00 an hour. -You will be hired as a temp or seasonal employee. You MIGHT work 5 months a year and will be laid off the rest of the time. Our branch has lost quite a few seasonal employees in the past few months because they were told they would be laid off for about a month when it was actually 3 months. -This company is no longer hiring full time employees. Do NOT believe it when a supervisor tells you otherwise, they ARE lying!!! -The warehouses are NOT air conditioned. The summers are intolerable, hot and miserable and it WILL get upwards of 80+ degrees and no one cares- even senior management. -There is no reward for learning more or being a hard worker. You might receive a .30 raise a year, if you are lucky. Hard work and motivation only get you more expectations, not more money. They will work you harder and expect more with no compensation. -Managers and supervisors do not communicate with each other. There is NO communication and you will pay the price. 3 different people will tell you 3 different ways to do a task, and I promise you that you will wind up doing that task 6 times because this company doesn't believe in doing something right the first time, they like to make double, triple or quadruple work for their employees. -You will work on concrete floors, it will tear your body up in no time flat. There is no sitting or resting (except for a few minutes of break time) and I promise you that in 3 years, you will develop arthritis or worse.

Pros

Pros to working at Scholastic are the supportive directors and colleagues, and the equally challenging and interesting projects you work on.

Cons

Cons would have to be internal communication. Members of different departments and divisions have difficulty communicating with each other and the work of different business units tends to overlap.

Pros

Cons

There is no way to review management if you get a bad boss, you're stuck with them.
