Pros

Great product. Creative, intelligent, passionate employees.

Cons

Very little communication between upper management and the rest of company. Very 'political' place to work.

Pros

Working to produce reading materials for teachers and children is very satisfying. You know that your efforts pay off in good quality materials for teachers and kids. It's fun to be part of such a well-known and well-loved company. Many of the people at Scholastic care a lot about their work, and have a high sense of responsibility about what they produce. There's a good sense of innovation, as well. New ideas are welcome.

Cons

The work-life balance is horrible. People are expected to work on the weekends and evenings without compensation, and to be responsible for a great deal of work done in a short period of time. What rankles the most about this is that the reason why things are behind is often due to management not making decisions in a timely, orderly way. There's not a sense of respect for the efforts of the rank and file.

Pros

If you like dealling with school age kids and seeing there excitment when you deliver a book fair to schools then it's for you. Also if you like working on your own then being a driver is great, as you get your route and leave the warehouse.

Cons

Low wages, lack of communication between branch manager and employees, always demanding more of there employees without giving back to the employees. They recently started cost cutting measures to save money, there making it harder to do your job. The branch manager I worked with doesn't treat you with respect, I have been yelled at by him in front of everyone just because I asked a question about a delivery.
