Pros

This company offers a good benefits package and employee discounts on their products. Scholastic also has a long company history.

Cons

Scholastic management does not respect their employees personal lives and does not treat their employees equally. Management does not encourage their employees to respect each other.

Pros

Scholastic is a really fun and exciting place to work! From the moment you enter the doors at 557 Broadway, you immediately feel immersed in a paradise of children's books. The bright colors, film screens, and other decorations immediately distinguish Scholastic as a unique type of corporation, one which is intensely mission-driven; and that same commitment to youth is clearly evident in the books the company publishes.

Cons

The salary is not very good (though this is more of an industry-wide issue) and it can be difficult to get a foot in the door without a connection.

Good product, bad work environment.

Pros

Great mission statement. A company that has the potential to continue offering great educational products to children. Casual work environment with good hours.

Cons

Lack of competent and smart leadership in upper management. Seniority seems to always be given precedent over merit and personal contribution when it comes to getting promoted or recognized. No incentive to want to do better as an employee or to make a difference in your position because of lack of growth. Company seems to always be chasing the trends in new media instead of being a trend setter. Very 'political/corporate' place to work. People hired don't seem to be really qualified to be in their position. Salaries are below market.
