Pros

Great location, great people, a fun atmosphere, a good mission statement.

Cons

Backwards thinking management, stuck in their 80 year old business plan. The entire company held hostage by a few people that insist on doing things the same old way.

Pros

Good mission, good people. I enjoy working at a company where people are truly driven towards making the world a better place for children to learn and thrive. There are multiple opportunities to find an area in publishing and education that you feel you are interested and enjoy working in.

Cons

Pay can vary greatly between people with the same job title.

Pros

Great benefits, smart people, and a laid-back creative environment.

Cons

Not great at managing money, I'd say. Last year, Scholastic was 1 million over budget in advertising alone. Whenever there are financial problems, the Scholastic solution is to fire people. It is not clear to me whether they take this route as a last resort, but it doesn't seem like it. In my four years here, we've had three "black Fridays."
