Addressing Toxic Management and Unmanageable Workloads

Pros

Outstanding Benefits: SchoolsFirst FCU offers an exceptional benefits package

Cons

I am deeply disappointed by the shift in culture at SchoolsFirst, where the once supportive and team-oriented environment has been overshadowed by toxic management practices and favoritism. Toxic Manager: Unfortunately, my experience was marred by a toxic manager who created a hostile work environment. The manager's behavior included micromanagement, lack of communication, and a general disregard for team morale. This made it difficult to feel valued or supported in my role. Favoritism in My Department: There was a noticeable culture of favoritism within my department. Certain employees received preferential treatment, promotions, and opportunities, while others were overlooked regardless of their performance and contributions. This created a divide among team members and led to decreased motivation and morale. Lack of Support from Upper Management: Upper management did not provide adequate support or address the concerns raised by employees. When issues were brought to their attention, they were often dismissed or ignored, leaving team members feeling unheard and undervalued. This lack of responsiveness contributed to a sense of frustration and disillusionment. Unrealistic Workload: The workload assigned to employees was often unrealistic and unmanageable. This led to high levels of stress and burnout, as team members struggled to keep up with the demands placed on them. The expectation to consistently perform at this level without sufficient resources or support was detrimental to both productivity and overall well-being.

Great Organization for Customer

Pros

Focus on Customer Service Salary and benefits Community Service DreamTeam Conference Staff recognition/gifts (they buy your loyalty which can be a pro or con)

Cons

Forces employee surveys but doesn't address management issues; Senior Mgmt selects the topics they will focus on but avoids anything having to do with Mgmt practices. Senior Mgmt too busy focusing on products to address staff/management issues. Ignores complaints of harassment and just "settles" cases financially versus correcting issues. Forces you to 1) join PACs or face harassment; 2) take surveys that are "optional" but senior mgmt walks around to each teammember asking them if they completed it; 3) has no concern for work/life balance. Senior Mgmt doesn't listen to anyone below a VP (including employee surveys) which allows tyrannical VPs to remain in place while ignoring high turnover.

Great Place to work!

Pros

Member-centric, great benefits (100% paid for employee and ALL dependents), Growth potential / potential to apply for & explore other positions before you apply. Pay is above average for Credit Unions.

Cons

Easy to move up in your current department but hard to transition to other departments if you want to learn something new and add to your skill set - other than job shadowing which is hard to schedule. Growing pains: still small-size mentality though growing business to the point where the workload outweighs the employee availability. Processes are severely outdated and are overlooked due to tenure of managers doing things the old fashioned way and not recognizing holes or problems with current practices.
