Pros

At this point - very few I now consider myself a former WMS employee, since SG has done everything in it's power to crush and obliterate any remnant of the WMS culture. This has only accelerated after the purchase of Bally. Bally, like SG, has a culture of penny pinching which would normally result in a match made in heaven. Alas the crushing debt load associated with these two purchase guarantee that the only ones making money through SG will be the the creditors.

Cons

I can't stress strongly enough how any potential employees should avoid this company. The culture is pure poison.

Pros

Good products, truly, across both lottery and casino gaming. Interactive and Sports Betting as well. Nice co-workers of those who are unlucky enough to still be there.

Cons

Toxic environment; no trust from Top Management downwards and vice versa upwards. Red tape- so many departments and people and processes and paperwork... it's amazing anything goes out the door. No loyalty has really been shown in the last couple years either... a lot of good people both above and below me have been cut.

Pros

The people. I worked at this company for 10 years, and the reason I stayed so long was the people. I had so many friends there. Many SG employees are the industry's best -- bright, experienced, and very talented. I miss them.

Cons

At SG, you go to work every day feeling fearful, uncertain, and worried. That is not an environment that makes employees employees flourish and fosters and innovation and creativity. After SG acquired Bally, the layoffs started and they haven't stopped. There are multiple rounds of layoffs all the time -- some large and some small. They lay people off just to make quarterly earnings or make numbers for the year. SG is a terrible environment for women. If you are a woman, good luck getting pay equal to your male counterparts. Your chances of being promoted are slim to none, and they will promote or bring in men over you every day. Politics reign supreme at Scientific Games. Due to the constant in-and-out of executives, employees always have to play politics, willing to throw others under the bus to get ahead of keep their jobs. It is a depressing place to work, where you are in fear of your job and your status each and every day. The reason people stay -- golden handcuffs. SG pays wages that exceed many of the small to mid-sized competitors. If you are willing to sell your soul for money, SG is the place to be.
