Pros

Good benefits, better-than-average pay for most positions, hospitals are in good locations and well-kept, great coworkers, Active CEO that actually listens to employees, and is engaged in the day-to-day operations of the company.

Cons

I don't even know where to begin. Audit and Compliance department within I.S. is far too powerful. Very political environment, management likes to play favorites, and likes to hire people to jobs that they were unqualified for. Hardly any opportunities for advancement. Too much legacy software (still on Windows XP and Internet Explorer 6) and a cobbled-together IT Infrastructure. Too many middle-managers and directors not doing any of the work. Contractors (especially in IS) are not treated fairly.

My experience at Scripps was very frustrating from management to day to day interactions with co-workers.

Pros

The salary was higher than average for the area, probably due to not being union. The benefits package was better than average as well.

Cons

The doctors and nurses do not work together, and management does not support nursing staff. I found most staff just came in, did their job and left. There was no pride in doing a job well. I also felt that they were well behind the curve in terms of incorperating new technology or research into their care.
