Pros

The paid time off was agreeable but you could never feel right taking it due to the workload.

Cons

The workload was inhumane. Standards, procedures and contracts not properly in place for an claims person to do their job properly and attend to the clients' needs. NO Team spirit in the claims management department at all. The specialist will be thrown under the bus everytime when the structure of claims management is totally broken. Clients fees are extremely too low and therefore an adjuster has to have numerous accounts to attempt bonuses. Constantly pressured to work 12-16+ hour days. The work/life balance is non-existent. If you are still there - get out while you can before overwhelming stress, a nervous breakdown, cancer, or death overtake you due to this employer!

Don’t believe the lies

Pros

A job to make some money but not much else. Decent PTO/vacation but good luck trying to get time off as teams are always short handed and only 1 or 2 people can be off a day.

Cons

Work loads that are unreasonable. Coworkers who do nothing but end up promoted. You’ll end up doing other employees work because they are “slow.” But if you slow down they’ll reprimand you. Recent 5 star reviews are full of incorrect information or straight up lies. Hard workers who are in search of good pay and possible promotions. This isn’t the company for you.

Pros

Sedgwick is a great place to start your career but not necessarily the best place to stay for a long time. Benefits are good and the salary is fine for entry level work. Management is nice and does their best to help as much as they can. Coworkers are nice. We have worked remotely for a long time and management should be open to the idea of permanent remote work for the broader office rather than just dangling the carrot of "maybe we'll be back in the office soon!"

Cons

The claims system is incredibly outdated and a dinosaur to deal with. However, the old guard has used it for so long they aren't aware that other companies have streamlined user-friendly systems. I spend about half my time actually handling claims and the other half updating various screens for their automated reporting systems . The busy work of updating screens so that their reports function is absolutely overwhelming. However, I think most people are so used to it they don't realize they're spending so much time updating screens for the sake of updating screens. It is implied that PTO should not be taken because there is no one to cover your claims while you are out. It is upsetting that it is a well known fact that you need to leave and come back for any sort of substantiative raise. Making $30-40k less than other examiners with the same case loads is discouraging.
