Do not believe the 5 star reviews

Pros

You learn a lot about life insurance and underwriting

Cons

First off, notice the 5 star reviews are all created around the same dates and short and sweet - obviously SQ mgmt. creates these themselves. I worked for SQ as a senior sales agent for over 5 years. When I first started, it was great. Great people, decent pay, decent leads, etc. By the time I quit, it was unbearable. Upper management changed and became a joke. The individuals they have "representing" their upper management were either prior sales agents without any management experience, or uneducated managers who were able to climb the ladder. They decided to manipulate the pay structure to eliminate any change of making the money you were able to make before my salary was cut by about $30K per year by the time I left due to their ever changing pay structure and rules which allow them to take away your sales. The management style is by far the most toxic I have ever experienced. They manage by fear and humiliation. It's basically mental abuse and this is a theme as you read through the "real" reviews. Trust me, unless you have no other options, do not work for this company.

Pros

The job offers plenty of opportunities to make money by providing clients with several different products. To make money though, you really have to really focus on all of them. If you want a challenge, and you have a determined must win attitude and remain positive while fielding calls, you can truly make a difference in people's lives. The job is rewarding the longer you stay and improve your sales. This is a very mental job and requires a professional, perceptive individual who has good work ethic in order to thrive long term. If you are looking for an easy job to make 60 grand a year at, this is not for you. However if you are patient, determined and are willing to listen to criticism without getting your feelings hurt then you may do well. Pros 1.Good leads at times 2. Excellent work atmosphere with good all around people sharing the spaces 3. Strenuous selection process on new hires 4. Plenty of spiffs and prizes ( very old school but nice) 4. Management and Ownership that seem to listen and care 5. A corporate desire to improve constantly 6.Laid back atmosphere if you are doing your job 7. decent pay, could be a bit better 8. Solid training program and continuous education 9. Excellent support staff and well thought out processes in place 10. Potentially making a huge difference in many peoples (clients) lives by securing financial protection for their loved ones.

Cons

1. Management/Ownership are a bit confused as to where to focus ones pay (but getting there) 2. Limited income "opportunities" to really knock the ball out of the park during a good selling month 3. Limited leads at times 4. Always screening for minor mistakes and take away your hard earned money with no counseling or explanation if they find one 5. Crap leads that count against your pay and lead opportunity even though you cannot control this 6. Many moving parts to the job and a bit overwhelming for some. 7. Will terminate employment in the first few weeks or days of your new job if they feel you aren't getting it. 8. Very limited ability to move up the ladder

Pros

Ability to make good money if you work 50-60 hours per week and are patient. Good lead system and sales process. The ability to have flexibility in the future after the first year or two. Health insurance benefits. If you work like crazy you can make really great money but not for the first 6 months to a year. No cold calling and not much follow up or clerical work.

Cons

Terrible management for the most part. Company is an ego driven company from the owners down to mid level management with a few exceptions. There were a lot of nice lower level managers that are really nice but mostly tuned out to their agents needs - most likely their time was taken up with trying to keep up with the demands of their managers. The atmosphere of the company over-all is fear and bullying based. BUT there are some really nice people there to keep it unbearable. I personally left for a career change but would have left eventually because of the constant pettiness of upper and middle management.
