My team was super helpful when I started learning and ever since. My boss was an expert in the field and I learned a lot about water and sewer infrastructure and how to navigate various agencies to support my communities. Very rewarding and very understanding company. They really care.
Cons
Some of the community development projects take many years to start to finish. Some of my co-workers had still not seen one through completion even after a few years. And that can be discouraging. This is a people job at its base. There will be communities in your projects that are awesome but also unreliable and hostile. But this is something that is unavoidable in any job.
I really felt pressured to work overtime, do things that I was not trained in. Management will openly admit they cannot train you, and apologize for not having the time.
