Pros

Great benefits, great company ethics. Has great courses you can take to advance yourself.

Cons

The manager I had at the time wasn't the best but I was really looking forward to moving up in the company, if I didn't relocate I would still be there!

Pros

Lots of advancement opportunities if you are willing to put in the effort. Great place to live assuming you can handle Wisconsin winters. My commute to work takes 5 minutes.

Cons

Compensation in my department is below industry average.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Your interpretation of the advancement opportunities is what we strive for—and we hope the quality of life here and lower cost of living makes the whole package attractive to you and others who are such an important part of the Sentry family for so long. We are always working to keep our compensation levels competitive. Please be sure to share your concerns about compensation in your department with your manager and/or HR advisor. Now, if only we could do something about the winters… Javier Sotelo – Director HR

Pros

One of the few places for people who live in the cities around the HQ to get experience in a large company environment. Also a con because the culture is incestuous and unable to consider any idea or practice that didn't originate there.

Cons

As a mid-career professional, I joined this company after being heavily recruited. I had worked for some fantastic international companies and thought a job at an upper Midwest based company would have a decent work life balance and culture. Wow, what a mistake. The culture of this organization is straight out of the '50's - command and control, micromanagement to an incredible degree. There is more than enough work to go around, but very little internal support or resources to assist you. The company is long on policy and procedure and short on action. The people local to the HQ will probably never leave - there are very few options in that market, so little new blood gets in -- and certainly no new ideas or attitudes. Very much behind the times compared to their contemporaries. Keep looking unless you need a paycheck now to tide you over.
