Pros

They have a good 401K product, and their Commercial P&C programs are good

Cons

The people in Stevens Pointe were referred to as Sentroids, at the time the CEO came from actuary so you can might imagine how that impacted the culture. I came from a fortune 250 company and Sentry was very cautious about spending any money to improve the infrastructure. They were just learning about computer software and PCs about 20 years behind the curve in technology. What I saw were most of the talented and top performers leave due to unrealistic expectations and the amount of time they had to spend on non-productive, non-income generating activities, which gave the non-income producing, non-customer focused, management personal something to due, besides complain about how the top sales producers were over compensated.

Pros

Truly enjoyed traveling throughout the United States performing industrial hygiene surveys for our insured clients. Enjoyed working with the loss control consultants and industrial hygiene professionals maintained a positive attitude despite the pressure placed on them.

Cons

Manager required reluctant lost control consultants to perform industrial hygiene activities. Credentialed safety professional manager unethically forced 3 CIH s to sign off on loss consultant's work where CIHs had NO authority to require industry-acceptable Industrial hygiene recommendations or direct supervisory guidance at work location. Company provided no avenue for workers to appeal manager's direction considered inappropriate. Manager disregarded recommendations for improvements stifling creativity by workers. Manager deceitful in appeal to professional credentialing organization in securing support of unethical practice.
