Pros

401k match, great people, competitive salary

Cons

Poor management, lack of direction. The Corporate Marketing area is losing employees due to a severe lack of direction and support from upper management. Personal relationships are valued more than skill and experience. A change is needed before a successful marketing team will deliver what is needed. More talented and driven employees will look elsewhere unless a change happens soon.

Thanks for taking the time to express your concerns. In the past year, we’ve made significant changes to the marketing team’s structure and roles to better serve our business units and provide strategic marketing support in meeting business goals. I know change can be unsettling. I’d welcome the chance to talk with you personally about your experiences. Please, feel free to come see me at any time. Pros

In my nearly two years with Sentry, I have worked on two teams as a Business Analyst within the IT division. My current role with Digital Content Management (DCM) has provided me many opportunities to expand my knowledge and skills and continue to grow within my role. I have found management to be helpful and encouraging of all efforts, both internal and external, to expand my knowledge base. The team, consisting of both .Net and Java programmers and several BA's at various stages in their career, has been a positive example of how a team should work, and thrive together. Overall, I enjoy coming to work. Bulleted highlights for Sentry and the IT-DCM team include: - good benefits (401k, bonuses) with onsite resources (fitness center, pool, cafeteria, credit union) - regular messaging from CEO on the direction of the organization - educational opportunities - support from Application Development Manager and Director for both internal (SQL courses) and external (ToastMasters) efforts designed to improve the overall employee - positive promotion of a team atmosphere geared toward working together to find solutions - encouragement from AppDev Manager to pursue growth opportunities

Cons

Overall, I'm hard-pressed to find a compliant with my department. I enjoy what I do, who I work with and my management. My only "complaint" is that I would like a larger monitor for viewing Excel documents more clearly. In consideration to Sentry as a whole, I would like to see more associate surveys to elicit feedback. Sentry also has a policy of alerting management when you are applying for another internal position. I have not encountered that with any other company I've worked for, and while I have a comfort level with my manager that emphasizes open discussion, not all associates may have that same experience. This seems a bit archaic and may prevent associates from finding workplace fulfillment.
