Pros

Coworkers were amazing and the only thing that kept me there as long as I stayed.

Cons

A for profit group home model is unsustainable. Profits going to shareholders and not the hardworking employees is a terrible practice. Just try getting a raise - you need to be the legislature every year while your boss looks at you like they have no control over your pay.

Not a good job if you need to support a family.

Pros

The consumers you get a chance to grow with and take care of. If you're not here for them this job is not worth it. The only reason I haven't left is because I love the clients I work with. Anyone can get hired (and I mean anyone) but that's not always a good thing.

Cons

Looking online I see the salary says up to $10 an hour. I was told overnight and weekend staff made more when I got hired. That was a lie. I started off working weekends and days at $8.50 an hour in 2010. Then after a few years I moved to overnights. I've been with this company over 5 years and I still make $8.50 an hour. There are no raises, no bonuses, and every single co-worker I work with, including myself, work 2 jobs to make ends meet. Moving up in position is not an option. Sure you can become a house manager but the pay is still very little with more stress added on to your workload. This is how bad it is. Everyone was offered the position of house manager and everyone refused the job. That should tell you something. Unless you can get into a position higher than manager it's not worth it. They have a high turnover, at times you work with clients that have physical behavioral issues but you don't get paid what a behavioral health caregiver should get. A good job just to get some experience or a quick paycheck, but not a good long term company.

Pros

You are able to flex hours as long as they are approved by a manager/supervisor above you, which is helpful for things like personal appointments Free lunch during meetings You only need a Bachelor's Degree for most positions The company likes to promot from within

Cons

For profit company Low salary that is not competitive There is a lot of travel required and the company does not reimburse you at the state rate. Health Insurance and other benefits are very expensive No raise or salary increase for several years There are quite a few upper level staff that do not appear to have the qualifications or knowledge for the position they are in which makes work more challenging and frustrating They have a lot of workgroups to discuss agency goals but nothing useful ever comes of them.
