Pros

I have a set schedule that I got to choose around my class schedule. This makes it very predictable so I can plan around it, a monkey could do the job its easy

Cons

Repetitive, dealing with customers who are rude, extra work without extra pay, highly gossipy culture where everyone talks about everyone else behind their back (best to just keep your mouth shut)

Pros

good people work there ( non management) flexible on hours and days off get to meet new people it started great, working overtime, working 10 hours every sunday. but then, shaws sold out and all of that stopped

Cons

as you can see, my cons will heavily outweigh the pros. ok. management plays favorites. each store manager and dept head has their favorites that they will look out for and help when they can. Luckily, i was my grocery manager"s favorites. Not by choice. so i had it pretty easy. other people kiss butt to become favorites and i will never stoop that low. the associate of the year. I should have won that but was beat out by a woman who did absolutely nothing all day long. Im not exxagirating when i say, did nothing all day. she sat upstairs in the managers office or in the computer room all day and got paid (nicely) for doing so. what got me upset is the management allowed it to happen. Why you ask, cause she's a girl. which brings me to my next point. Managers favor girls over boys. HEAVILY. ive seen girls come into work and stand in the aisles and talk all shift. to management too. I would stand and talk to someone for a minute and i would get the evil eye. managers expect to much form their workers. especially when the managers dont do a thing all day. people who have worked there 10 or more years think they are the boss. telling people what to do. i was a full time grocery clerk and i got paid crap money. I got paid a little under 400 dollars. thats barely enough to get by on. so needless to say, the pay was horrible. raises stopped after 2 years of working there. the only way to get a rasie was by a promotion, and that was even few and far between.
