Shaws is a company that is going down hill however payrate was the only good thing about working there.

above average pay. If your union than benefits compensation and general outlook allows one to rise from the ashes of the dismal managment style and continue working there.

Cons

managment usually finds a way to pound you in to the ground. As the years goes on it gets worse. the good ole' days are gone.

Senior management has little competence Work gets slow/hours get cut in the slow season (Jan.-April) Lay-offs have become frequent in the last few years

Pros

Shaw's was my first retail job and I hated it at the time, but I've since held other similar positions and this was by far the best. -Management is realistic and usually helpful -Training is satisfactory -The pay is quite good for retail- I was making $9.50 ($12/hr on Sundays and holidays) from the start -Advancement opportunities are pretty decent if you want to move up in the company (which I didn't) -Good recognition of hard work -Acceptable benefits -Reasonable hours and pretty good flexibility for time off and schedule change requests

Cons

Well... it's retail. Rude customers and mindless, repetitive tasks come with the territory. It's not a fun job, but it's really not bad for its type.
