No room to grow, not as promised!

Pros

It's a good company and some people like it. Good benefits and it's a growing very fast. It's an Employee owned company and that's a great benefit that many don't offer.

Cons

Not much room to grow and I feel working there won't get me a promotion or I can't move. Many people are in the same position and not open to change. It's hard to address any idea because no one will listen. I been there for sometime and I feel I have reached a point in not wanting to address any issues. I don't bother anymore because it's a waste of time.

Problems at every level of operations

Pros

decent pay and good benefits

Cons

The company is going down the pipes! Like someone already said below - a lot of loud talk, no action, and shameful resolutions! It used to be a good place to work at. Then they started growing too fast, and hired a bunch of inexperienced, fake busybodies with blown out resumes, and caused major scheduling, cost control & communication issues all across the board on most projects. Contractors used to laugh at PMs cause they had no trade or knowledge, and were easy to steer. Upper management was hiding behind the closed door. Then they got on the wagon of female promoting, but based on loud talk, and looks, rather than on merit. Shameful tokenism! Don't bother applying. The good people are gone.

It's all about who you know...

Pros

Great people, FLEX time, nice office.

Cons

it's all about who you know at Shawmut. They hire people with no experience, ONLY because they know someone who's been in Shawmut for a long time, which is completely unfair to those who have worked for years and know enough to be promoted. It's almost impossible for project administrators to advance and opportunities in finance are very limited (again, only if you're not a favorite). PXs get away with a lot of things depending on how big their projects are. PMs with little to no experience are assigned to jobs that they cannot handle. Turnover in NEG finance is a problem, but nobody seems to care.
