Pros

Shell's core values i.e. honesty, integrity and respect for people are practiced beyond corporate branding. Therefore, employees feel they are being trusted, safe to speak and respected. On work life balance, there is a very strong culture to support staff personal life and as a result employees feel highly motivated to deliver their best. Every year, Shell People Survey is conducted and this is a very critical process to let the employees speak up their minds and the management make it a strong point to follow up on feedback from this annual survey.

Cons

Complex organisation sometimes makes it difficult for decision to be made. As a big organisation, staff are also limited to the dedicated areas they are assigned to. This limit overall growth and the staff will find themselves less competitive elsewhere especially smaller organisations.

Pros

- Work is challenging in a positive way - Lessons learned are invaluable - A lot of opportunities to grow and deliver projects - Generally laid back working culture, it's up to you if you want to stress yourself out (depending on how high of a performance bonus you want to target)

Cons

- If you are part of the Shared Service Center, you will not be treated as a "Shell employee" by those who are in manufacturing plants, etc., but rather as someone who is just from a BPO industry - Culture of delivering as many projects as possible makes it a competition with your colleagues and not with yourself - Structure of giving out performance bonus makes it a rat race - Power tripping of boses in some departments are a huge turn off - "You're either with them or against them" political culture - You have to make yourself be noticed by the higher ups (not just objectively) if you want to go up the corporate ladder
