Pros

Training is fun. They're clear about being a conservative business, both inside and out. As an insurance company, these traits are good. Customer service for your customers is top notch.

Cons

Not very communicative about the size of your book when you sign on. Very little chance for advancement within 15 years unless you're in the GOBN. Pronounced lack of diversity at all levels. Little to no avenue to provide feedback.

Pros

In columbia, Shelter is one of the top places if not THE top place to work as a software developer. Pay is competitive, management is laid back, and benefits are insane. Their retirement guarantees to match however much you put in by 3 times every year. Not only that, they will match more for good years, and more if you put in 6% or higher. It's not unusual to get a 5 times match!

Cons

For a progressive developer who wants to work with current technology, shelter may not be the place for you.
