Pros

Used to be some advantages but they've cut them all.

Cons

Low pay, favoritism and ageism runs rampant in management. If you are a 25-30 year old looking for a stable job, this is the place to go if you don't mind making the bottom of the pay scale for your field. If you are older than that, taking a job here means being lied to daily, no promotions, and generally expected to keep you mouth shut and do whatever mind numbing task they give you.

Lip Service Only, Aimless without "consultants".

Pros

Diversity. 401k, but Shelter Insurance hasn't matched the last 4 years.

Cons

Too many chiefs (expanding in many levels of management). As other reviews have stated, just because a person's been around for a while, in no way makes that person the appropriate choice for management. The reliance on outside consultants is egregious, and has only become worse over the last few years. Hiring of any of these "consultants" into management, especially senior leadership, makes absolutely no sense - especially when it forces others out. Lose knowledge, depend on strangers. Good plan! No distinguishing performance or rewards by subsidiary companies (except for senior management). Many forced to be in the office to handle archaic manual/paper processes. Slowly shifting medical cost to employees. Pension completely eliminated! Read: benefits decreasing dramatically, pay is never inflation adjusted and still lags behind competition.

Pros

People are great and the culture is nice. However, the work loads are so overwhelming it can make for a very stressful work environment. Lots of people have no idea what they are doing and don't want to ask too many questions. MGMT did not have knowledge of the position they were supervising. Basically, you were your own supervisor and just tried your best.

Cons

Workload is huge and training is only two weeks long. You are dropped right in the middle of everything. Sink or swim.
