Pros

Head of Engineering is an amazing teacher, mentor, and an above average manager. You get to work with lots of talented people

Cons

No transparency, CEO says it’s “bad for business”. Toxic, sarcastic, conservative culture. Corporate office where candid discussions are rare and memos prevail CEO has zero respect for junior employees, responds to feedback with “You’re free to look elsewhere” Even upper management is hesitant to confront the CEO with feedback or problems.  CEO lets employees go same day when they resign with 1 month notice. (If they don’t own you they don’t want you) CEO makes racist and sexist remarks such as jokingly calling Chinese people Korean and making fun of the #MeToo movement. Less-than-average startup salaries

Pros

One of the pros here is that we walk the talk here at Shiftsmart. We don't only market our platform for companies but we use it ourself in over 19 countries. Other pros to working at a start up include: - The mission is clear - Employee impact is evident - You can take on more responsibility (if you want) - You learn a lot - Unique growth opportunities always present themselves - Culture is relaxed and fun (Outside of the obvious, also great benefits and 401k)

Cons

Like any tech company, the work can be complicated and take a lot of hands on work creating an imbalance for quick learning for those that are new to the industry like myself. The difference to this imbalance is that the team works diligently to also take time to train newbies like myself to the terms and to produce greater work product as a whole for the company. It's been a longer road to learning for me personally but I continue to listen, ask questions and keep up (even if I do put in a few extra hours to learn how to complete a task.)

Pros

High-growth tech start-up that offers real opportunities & growth for all employees. Has a tight-knit, supportive team and an important mission that serves workers across the US and the globe.

Cons

Given the grand ambitions, we run at a fast pace. Some thrive in that environment and others don't love it.
