Pros

The offices are nice and the people are nice. However, the pay is not good for a role in the Engineering team.

Cons

The company has outdated software and the product. The technology stack is old too. We're using .net over Python.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are sorry for the way you feel about us. Sidetrade has been recognised as one of the fastest growing tech firms in the AI domain. We make every effort to create a work environment for people to be at their best, feel happy & valued, deliver high end results. Earlier this year, we have opened a new Tech hub in Birmingham. During the inauguration, we announced major investments in AI, expected to total £30 million by 2025. The £30 million AI investment plan will focus on R&D, innovation and tech skills. The plan builds on Sidetrade’s solid expertise in areas such as machine learning, natural language processing and automated business processes. We employ 25 people in Birmingham and our attrition rate has been closed to 0% over the past three years. Sidetrade is set to hire many new people in the coming years. The majority of the job openings will be focused on AI technology and product development. This plan will provide a major boost to our R&D capacities, and future AI features. The hub will be a leading example of how product managers, data scientists and developers can collaborate on product development, research, education, and community engagement. We use of mix of technologies (including some of the most recent) across our platforms - like React, .NET Core, Python, Docker, Ansible etc. We wish you the best in your new endeavors.

Pros

Very positive work environment with friendly and helpful people. The most enjoyable part of the job is working with people who are hard-working and enjoying what they do at the same time. Involved team in improving way of working on a continuous basis, scrum, stand-ups, retrospectives, etc. Large software stack and diverse tech in use. Great stuff to work on for software engineers : true Machine learning and AI in the product, lot's of fronts, webapps, APIs,mobile apps, great back-end. People go out to do stuff outside together, gym, swimming. Video game party every month in the office, company wide foozball sidetrade cup twice a year, etc.

Cons

Everything can always be improved, Tech teams did struggled for some time to clear some debt created a few years ago. Situation was challenging but we are here to solve things. In the end everything has greatly improved since a year or two by extensively using Agile and continuous integration principles. Changes were made progressively to reorganize everything while still deliver lots of great stuff. Hard work done. Now we improve again on other topics.
