Thank you for your feedback. Coming on the heels of a very successful year, we feel confident that we have the appropriate accountability in place on the business side and we're excited for our future growth. That said, we're always looking for ways to improve and appreciate your perspective. If you have specific concerns, feel free to contact your manager or executive leadership. Thanks again!

Pros

Haven't been employed here for a full year yet but the experience thus far has been positive. - Mgmt is open to employee feedback and doing what they can to make suggested changes - At the current size of the organization, there is a good balance of having some structure but not too much process - Compensation and benefits are at or slightly above market - High standard for talent - hire highly capable and intelligent people - Emphasis on nurturing and maintaining a collaborative team environment - Employees are encouraged to be autonomous - no micro-mgmt. - Encouragement of continuous learning and growing; taking on more responsibility - Daily catered lunches and dinners; lots of snacks and beverages - you will never be hungry here - Impressive product that will one day make MemSQL a globally recognized brand and company

Cons

Like any other start-up, there are areas for improvement. Most of the challenges naturally just come with scaling an organization, and some are more basic. - The Company is very engineering focused which is understandable at times, but when decisions are made, it should be made with the best interest of everyone and not just the engineers - The majority of the talent is young, and for most, MemSQL is their first real job. With that, there is sometimes an obvious lack of professional etiquette - be on time to meetings, and if you're going to be late, let someone know; accepting and declining meeting requests; understanding work & communication flow

Pros

The pay was competitive. Big budgets means getting access to tools/tech and being able to run with big ideas wasn't an issue.

Cons

Encountered sexism in multiple forms - spoken over at meetings, men repeating what had just been said by female team members suggested as 'new' ideas, etc. (Candid convos with other female employees behind the scenes confirmed this was not a unique experience.) Ego over progress. One team-building outing turned into an opportunity for the executive team leader to belittle the team's intelligence. Poor team management at the time. Clear the person I reported into didn't have any people leadership skills. Zero work life balance (this is a meeting heavy culture, so work happens outside work hours). Quite a few peers who were hired at the same time are also no longer with the company if that says anything.
