Some hits, some misses...

Pros

There is still a level of glamour and recognition in working for Sirius.

Cons

Upper level management is hit and miss. Some at the director level and above are excellent, others are borderline incompentent. The work/life balance is non-existant for many departments.

Work hard, little pay, no recognition.

Pros

You get to see/meet tons of Celebrities. If you are a Howard Stern fan you can see him (never meet) him walk by and you can interact with other show members. The dress code is very casual so in most departments you can wear jeans everyday.

Cons

You can work very very hard but there may not be any room for growth. If you are lucky enough to get a raise the maximum is usually 10%. 10% of nothing is nothing. If you have an issue the Human Resources department will listen to you, but they are not confidential. They will go back and talk to the others about the issues which will create an uncomfortable work environment.

Pros

It is still a relatively small company with plenty of cross-training opportunities--provided you have a willing manager. The company (at least pre-merger XM) is competitive when it comes to salary and benefits.

Cons

Unfortunately, the employee-friendly days of XM Satellite Radio have disappeared. Since the merger with Sirius, the "tone from the top" has changed markedly to a more Wall Street like atmosphere. Cold and impersonal - the team atmosphere has all but vanished. With the company's financial troubles, employees are expected to "work around" issues and duct tape together cheaper systems, but management expects the same enterprise-level performance from these bargain solutions.
