Great Place to Grow

Pros

Skanska makes a concerted effort to train all of their employees. Senior management seems to truly care that you are growing as an individual. They have spent a significant amount of money training us in the last year.

Cons

The company is rather large. Even in the Seattle office there are enough people to ensure that you will most likely never know all of the people on a first-name basis. This can be a problem for young professionals trying to climb the ladder.

Pros

The pay package is low for the industry, but there are good long-term incentives to stay with the company. The people are generally professional in what is often a very unprofessional industry. The projects are often high profile and the company does top notch work, which is something to be proud of. The company pays for reimbursement for various expenses including car. Frequent training and feedback are also a plus. The company has a commitment to safety which is appreciated by all employees.

Cons

The hours are long and you do not have much choice regarding which projects you will be assigned to. The pay is not great compared to the industry average.

Pros

The Seattle office is great as they host holiday parties and give great bonuses every year. Skanska is great to any operations worker (i.e. project engineer, project management, union workers). Great new offices. Management gets to travel a lot between offices.

Cons

It is not a great place for any other positions such as Project Accountant, Admin, Marketing. Management treats non-operation position unfairly. There is a huge gap in salary between the two. They only recognize operation positions for hard work and not others. Your job is project based, so if the company has no more project, you maybe out of a job!
