Pros

They get the little things done to try and make the building nicer. Employee events have gotten better.

Cons

SkyTouch doesn't seem to care for developing current employees, there's not much room for growth unless you have an in with management.

Pros

Lots of natural light in the building. Close to Paradise Valley Mall. Plenty of parking. Casual dress code. Some very good and capable long term developers.

Cons

No real effort is made to properly size projects at the macro or the micro level. The business and the development departments are constantly pointing the finger at each other for anything that goes wrong. Yet, neither department wants to concede any control to the other. Lay offs and firings seem to happen almost monthly if not more often, because the contractors and employees seem to be scapegoated for problems on a larger scale. 3 types of outsourcing have been tried in the last 2 years alone leaving the employees thinking that the only plan this company has is constant random change. New CEO seems completely oblivious to the real issues and appears to be completely unaware or does not even care about the chaos that is going on underneath him. Upper management is focused on sales while the development department is suffering from unusually high turn over. New technology is being fast tracked into the existing company products without being properly cost benefit analyzed or prototyped. All decisions both technological and organizational are being made with a very top down approach and any kind of descent is forcefully discouraged.

We understand that with any company experiencing rapid growth and change, the inevitable growing pains may not be easy for all. While we would love for all employees to have a great experience, we know that it is not always achievable and that sometimes it is just better for the individual to find a new role where the pace and expectations may be better aligned. While we always appreciate feedback, whether positive or constructive, we would also like to point out that this organization has not experienced any layoffs under the new CEO, who started in August, and turnover has been minimal. We truly hope you find success in the future, even if it might not be here at SkyTouch.

A work in progress

Pros

I have been with SkyTouch for about a year and have watched it change for the positive over the last six months. You can see that the new CEO and his management team have a vision and are executing on a plan to turn the company around from the rudderless mess it was in when I started. They are working to address the many issues that were inherited from its parent company, which were preventing it from being an enjoyable place to work.

Cons

The legacy software is so poorly designed and coded that it is amazing to me that it even functions most of the time. Most of the application code has not materially changed in over 15 years and the infrastructure was hacked together by amateurs with little concern for how to support and maintain it. It essentially feels like time stopped in 2005 and the software never evolved from there. The good news is that there seems to be a commitment from management and a plan to invest in modernizing everything over the next couple of years and the modernization of the applications is already in progress; though there is a long road to go. Many long term employees from the hotel industry are so clueless they can't understand the problems inherent to the company and consequently have not been too happy with the changes that have been happening, which is evident in some of the their reviews on this page. As a result, many have left the company; which is the best thing that could have happened. If you are coming from another hospitality or hotel company, then you may not like working here either.
