Pros

The company once had a collaborative, people-first culture that supported employee growth and innovation. There are still some incredibly talented and hardworking individuals doing their best despite the challenges.

Cons

Since the acquisition, there has been a drastic cultural shift that has negatively impacted morale, transparency, and collaboration. Senior leadership turnover has led to inconsistent direction and an erosion of trust between teams and management. Pressure to meet unattainable goals has increased, often without the necessary resources or support. Decision-making now appears more focused on optics and self-preservation rather than on empowering teams or delivering sustainable success. Benefits have steadily declined over time, with reduced offerings and less investment in employee well-being. There are persistent issues with leadership accountability. Concerns raised through internal channels do not seem to result in meaningful action, which has contributed to the departure of several high-performing team members.

Thank you for your review and for sharing your honest feedback. We hear you, and value your perspective. We aim to foster that collaborative, people-first culture, and recognize the incredible dedication and talent of everyone at Smartsheet. Acquisitions, while transformative, are also designed to bring accelerated growth and new opportunities. We hope that you’ll share your feedback in our company engagement survey so that we are able to take action on some of these items. Thank you again.

Pros

High performers make a lot above OTE, but OTE is way too low, so who cares. My direct management has been good

Cons

Culture was great and is 99% dead. Benefits are trash except Pat Leave and PTO. They make it significantly harder to make money each year. If you are thinking about joining, you should only consider a role on the EDU team or Gov team. They both rarely hire because it's free money to the reps.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I hear your challenges around senior leadership and management, and I appreciate your feedback. There is always room for growth in our management practices. As a Go-to-Market senior leader, I aim to cultivate a strong leadership team that fosters a culture of trust and mentorship, and I’m sorry to hear this hasn’t always been your experience. I’d like to learn more. Please reach out to your manager, People Business Partner, or me directly if you would like to share more. Thanks again. – Todd Doherty, SVP, Commercial Sales

Employees treated like serfs

Pros

snacks, drinks, good tech, nice chairs

Cons

Company has absolutely zero loyalty to their employees. Working long hours + weekends + excellent reviews = “We think you could do more” Staff are treated like they are disposable machines. Post lay-offs means you do 2X the work. Post hiring means you do 2X the work and need to train the new person. Management has never, ever been in the trenches. They are clueless.

Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective. We’re operating in a demanding and exciting time, full of opportunities to collaborate, innovate, and grow – and I know that only happens in an environment where employees feel empowered to balance driving results while making the best choices for themselves on a personal level. I’m grateful for your feedback. It serves as a reminder that there is always room for growth in our practices to promote both productivity and personal fulfillment, even when our engagement survey results reflect positive scores in these areas. And as someone with your tenure knows, we’re building systems to scale beyond where we are today and that requires everyone to challenge assumptions, learn new skills, and rethink the ways we work. I encourage you to reach out to your People Business Partner or manager to further discuss finding the right balance for you at Smartsheet. Thank you again and I hope we hear from you. – Praerit Garg, Chief Product Officer and EVP of Engineering.
