Pros

Flexible work week with 2 remote days and 3 in-office days. Obviously dependent on your manager, but my general sense is that professional development is a priority at SB. There are numerous examples of staff that have risen from entry-level jobs to leadership positions. Employee-owned. This definitely has a positive impact on the corporate culture.

Cons

Collaboration between service arms is sometimes overly challenging. There are ongoing innovations to the association management work model ("the matrix environment"), which will hopefully improve this issue. The company is doing well so promotions are plentiful (definitely a good thing), Hiring is more crucial than ever. There seem to be certain areas where the level of competence for entry-level employees is not up-to-par. While it is not my personal experience, it seems that many are trying to manage a too-full plate.

Pros

The people are fantastic! Every core team member and cross team project supporter have been personable, responsive, and responsible for shared work. The Chicago office staff are friendly and professional. Smithbucklin prioritizes comprehensive on-boarding and professional development. The work itself is interesting and meaningful.

Cons

Although on-boarding was very comprehensive, it was a little tedious at points. Additionally, the client assignment structure can be difficult to manage at times (i.e. splitting your time).
