Pros

Great opportunity to work with a lot of different clients and learn a lot of valuable skills. Coworkers were also all amazing. It was a good first job, but that’s about it.

Cons

Everyone is overworked. People are constantly leaving and they take a long time to replace. Management kept making promises and would never follow through. Salary was also embarrassingly low. CEO came to the DC office a decent amount but not once made an attempt to get to know employees. There is a big disconnect between staff and executive management.

Thank you for sharing your experience at Smithbucklin. We are currently undergoing an operations transformation and we hope this will address some of the inefficiencies identified through our employee feedback. We encourage any employee with feedback to engage in an open discussion with their reviewing supervisor, HR business partner, or a senior executive to identify solutions or changes, including those employees who are leaving the company to pursue a new opportunity.

Pros

The onboarding process was great and was about 2 weeks long, which means that you had time to really learn about the company, their procedures and policies and the role itself. It wasn't crammed into a day or two like most companies. This gave time to really learn. The team dynamic is great and they set you up with a buddy to answer any questions you may have. The supervisors are also great and do weekly check-ins to keep you on track and help ease you into your job role.

Cons

There are none at the moment.

Pros

A variety of clients across several very interesting industries. Challenging work that keeps you engaged. Decent pay and benefits package.

Cons

While SB has made strides to advance general technology services, we still have to use out dated systems to accomplish routine task like time entry. Hybrid schedule allows you to work from home two days a week, mandatory in-office days Monday & Thursday, and a third in-office day of your choice. This schedule doesn't really take inconsideration personal scheduling conflicts and can be tricky to keep up with individual schedules. Most of the work we do is remote and SB hasn't really been able to provide a justified reason for this mandate.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. As a current employee, you likely are aware that we are investing in an operations transformation and technology assessments and upgrades are part of this process. Our hybrid work model allows for flexibility, while also continuing to provide client service, team collaboration, and a positive experience for new employees joining the company and client teams. We encourage you to have a conversation with your reviewing supervisor if you feel you need additional flexibility in your schedule.
