Perception is not reality

Pros

Snowflake has a phenomenal product. The founders were truly revolutionary and built something that is differentiated and leads to great customer outcomes. For the most part, people truly care about the success of customers. The future if bright if they can get past all the turmoil internally. Customers should be excited about where the product is headed but should not get too attached to the sales team they are working with due to the working environment.

Cons

The external perception is that everyone in sales is crushing it but this is far from the truth. Most reps are not making anywhere close to the target yet externally recruiters are putting out numbers that are all world, yet no where near the truth. It is true that attrition is very low as most sales people are hoping for a liquidity event and hanging on for the ride. Massive over hiring has lead to very small territories (1-3 accounts in many cases) and a significant number of reps not making any money yet upper management is still making their quotas due to overallocation. Cronyism is at an all time high with a complete change out of senior management. Everyone is looking over their shoulders to see if they are next to go to make room for their replacement. Culture has really degraded over the past 6 months.

Pros

Industry knowledge Base pay (kind of)

Cons

The leader of the Corporate Account Executive team based in Denver is one of the most unprofessional, angry, and downright abusive people I have ever worked for (You know who you are). Unless you do well with extreme negative reinforcement, and being yelled at in front of your peers - DO NOT TAKE THIS JOB. All of your team meetings and 1:1’s with this person will involve them yelling, cursing, insulting and degrading you or the entire team. I thought abusive managers like this only existed in Tv shows and movies. Seriously, watch out. My entire team lives in fear of this person. Every action on the job is to avoid being screamed at. Consider very seriously not taking this job.

Growing, but success is not shared

Pros

- The product is great, competitive, adds value, and it works - Salary is competitive - Solid Product training - Interesting vertical

Cons

- Nepotism is rampant - Meritocracy does not exist - Solid Sales Reps are having very little success outside of the Bay area. - The culture is more of a Stockholm syndrome, where everyone is just trying to hang-on and say they are “happy” but they are just waiting for the company to IPO, so they can leave. - Sales Regions are bloated with Sales Reps, which creates a toxic culture of undermining colleagues in hopes they get let go so you can get their accounts. - Power grabs happening at the RVP, District Manager, and Sales Rep level. Thus, undermining and smearing your colleagues is a common practice. - The only people that are hitting their number are Sr. Sales Leadership. Sr. Sales Leadership "pad" their quota and give Sales Reps untenable quotas.
