Pros

Valuable training program in the first month (Sales) Plenty of food to enjoy. Public transportation subsidy. Decent culture.

Cons

Extremely high turnover rate: The company is hiring an alarming amount of people every month to join their sales team. for every 20 people they are hiring, about 5-6 of those people remain with the company long term. Working in such an environment where people are quitting or being fired at a moments notice can be very discouraging and brings on unnecessary stress on you as job security is virtually non existent. Favoritism: Favoritism will exist in every work environment that you are in, this simply is a fact. However the levels at which it exists at this place is borderline unethical. Management will be very quick to choose their favourite new hires and will provide them with far more attention and assistance compared to everyone else. Tenured staff members are also known to align with select new hires and provide them with leads and unfair advantages, leaving others at a disadvantage to meet the same quotas. If you are disliked by management or simply do not fit their "mold", steps will be taken to have you fired rather quickly, and if you are someone who falls in the middle you are left to fend for yourself and figure everything out on your own. Compensation: For most sales position, the base salary is far below industry standards. If you are lucky enough to sell something, the commission does not take into effect until your 5th month of employment or once you have been deployed.

Thank you for your thoughtful review. You’re right, we are hiring a lot of sales people. We’re in serious growth mode and the reality is that we can’t get enough good people in the door! As you indicate we have a very rigorous and intensive training program for all new sales hires. For many, this program is like getting a degree in 4 months and we realize this is not for everyone. Our managers are coached to help all of our new hires ramp up quickly. Compensation and total rewards are based on performance. Our success as a company is based on our level of commitment to our people and the passion they have for the work that they do. We agree that Softchoice is a great place to start and develop a career in a constantly changing and challenging industry.

Pros

great to start in the IT sales world, base knowledge of sales required, parking paid

Cons

Base salary is low, commissions horrible, constantly harassing clients, long work days, weekly lunch trainings not always paid and very repetitive (can have the same training 3 times in one month ie VMware techcheck). expected to work 45+ hours a week (only paid for 40), must brown nose your way with management, management unfit to lead a team. 90% of the vendor sales specialist are useless, they always "will get back to you with that one" and can take weeks to answer your questions. Greedy company that puts 100% of the blame on sales reps.

Pros

Great location (renovated old factory building). Young, energetic workforce. Sense of fun, and the dogs on premises and monthly beer are kind of fun.

Cons

Chaotic environment. Operations employees severely undervalued and underpaid. Senior leadership not interested in new ideas or critical thinking and has knee-jerk negative reaction to anything perceived as disloyalty. Extremely high turnover makes things worse, and no processes in place mean things change constantly for no reason. Horrible place for women to work - frat boy party mentality and almost no senior women (the few the had have all left in last year). Lots of mistrust from employees since they suffered salary cuts and rollbacks during recession and talk of "we're all in this together" and then SLT rewards themselves with 100K + bonuses.
