Pros

I came from a small company and made a difference there. After that company was purchased and I was subsequently relieved of my duties, I applied to SofterWare after reading stellar reviews and accomplishments. I participated in the screening interview with 2-3 staff members and was told to prepare for an onsite interview. I prepared for the interview and walked in to the reception area and was greeted not only by the lovely receptionist, but also everyone who passed through while I waited. The interview went well and a day or two later I was offered a position. I thought the kindness of the staff, the mission, vision and culture were all hype; but I was and am wrong. These people are genuinely kind, smart, thoughtful, ambitious, collaborative and FUN! SofterWare is not only a fabulous place to work where you are constantly pushed and encouraged to do your best and bring your best, but they also have a servant's heart. The care and time in which they give back to our local community, all sorts of charities and a great matching gift program, is remarkable. It is not only what they do, it is who they are! Employees are treated fairly and with respect. We are constantly motivated to innovate and make improvements through collaboration and teamwork which ultimately serves to delight our clients. I feel that I am still making a difference in so many more and varied ways here at SofterWare! I couldn't be happier! The honeymoon hasn't ended; and according to many of my co-workers, it never will!

Cons

If I had to pick something, it would probably be more intense/diverse onboarding process. While I received excellent training for my role here as a training specialist, I feel I could have benefited from spending more time with some other areas of our organization, e.g. Support, Implementation, etc. as a formal part of the onboarding process. This provides extraordinary insight into our product, our clients and our processes. As it happened, I sought out help for myself or initiated some processes.

We’re so glad to hear the Honeymoon continues, and we look forward to celebrating your many happy work anniversaries for years to come! In fact at our company’s annual Winter Party, we celebrate employees that have had a milestone anniversary in the previous year. We truly value your feedback and suggestions. About a year ago, one of our long time staff members had the same thought as you regarding our new employee on boarding. He has since created a new position for himself to improve the training of new staff, as well as a more formal on-going training program for all staff members. In addition, our Human Resources team met to discuss your recommendations, and we’ll be enhancing our process to ensure we’re following up with all new hires after they have been with SofterWare for three months. We understand the importance of making this new transition a smooth one, and we want to continue to build an engaging employee experience. Thank you! Kathy

Good company that listens to its employees

Pros

Company management listens to its employees through surveys, suggestion boxes, open door policies, etc. While I've worked for many company that had the same facade, SofterWare actually reads and acts on the suggestions. Employees work closely with management and typically understand with decisions and are in agreement with each other. The company also prides itself on being family friendly and they stick to this. Work/Life balance is fantastic. That's not to say that there aren't times were deadlines aren't the priority, but excessive long hours are not the norm. When my child had something going on at school I was able to attend. Need to spend a day at home because of deliveries/sick child and it's not a problem.

Cons

The biggest problem was historically low salaries. When I joined I failed to negotiate appropriately and believe I'm significantly underpaid (don't we all!). I try to conservatively match my role to salary.com and confirmed my belief. Recent hires appear to be more inline with what I'm seeing online so my personal situation may be my own issue.

As you know feedback in all forms is extremely important to us, and we appreciate the time you have taken to share your experience. In addition to your salary, there are number of other components to your total compensation. We reward our employees for company and individual performance through our incentive program. The incentive is paid on a quarterly basis or you can opt to receive an advanced portion in your semi monthly pay. We believe that every employee contributes to our success and we recognize that through our profit sharing plan. We also have a match for employee contributions to 401K. Our goal is to provide our employees with a rewarding total compensation and benefits package. As a result of our surveys, we’ve formed employee committees to address concerns, including salary and benefits. As a result, we’ve given employees an opportunity to get their bonuses each paycheck, to get a portion of their profit-sharing paid now rather than their 401K, changed our paid time off to make it easier to get the days you need without a reason, and began benchmarking salaries against industry norms so as the company does better, our excellent staff can earn more! Thank you! Kathy

Great Company that Walks the Talk

Pros

The people make it the best, and combined with a flexible life/work balance makes helping nonprofits/day care centers that much easier. Compensation is getting better, along with benefits. No quotas, no outside investors. Gives back to the community. Leader in non-profit world. Nice office space, but still somewhat of a cube farm.

Cons

Somewhat lower than average compensation - depends on which department though. As the company gets larger, it's losing its family appeal. CEO is micro-managed focused and seems distant, but maybe that's why the company is successful.

It is all about the people! We have our staff to thank in creating the culture we have here, and thank you for being a part of it! Not sure if you’ve seen the kitchen and kitchenettes’ lately, but I can’t leave there without stuffing my face with something delicious someone left for everyone else to enjoy! The company does also provide fresh peanuts everyday to snack on, a continental breakfast at our Second Friday meetings, pop-up bbqs, holiday luncheon, winter party affair with a fabulous buffet, and summer picnic at a camp or Phillies. Plus, we now offer very low cost healthy snacks as part of the Wellness committee’s recommendations. No one cares more about SofterWare and its staff than our CEO. Except for his family, he says it's his greatest joy, and it's all because the people that work here. Our CEO, like many others, is focused on the success of our clients and staff. And like every other manager, he’s open to feedback and suggestions. Just schedule a conversation and see for yourself! Thank you! Kathy
