Pros

The positive working atmosphere here is SO refreshing! The team is incredibly supportive. Great people. Leadership is very approachable and open to your ideas. Pay is good, fantastic benefits (minus PTO). I know a lot of Charleston companies with toxic work environments, and this is really the opposite. I'm so happy to work here!

Cons

A little old school in some respects and hesitant to adopt change, but you can see that they're taking gradual steps to modernize. Seriously need more vacation time.

Pros

Technologically advanced and Financially strong.

Cons

Very political atmosphere. The op-co I worked for (Capital Electric)practices poor to no communication. Employees feel dis-enfranchised as there is no encouragement of input or ideas because the senior leadership comes across like a dictator. During and since my last days with the company, they have had much talent ,with many years of experience leave the company. It doesn't seem as if the mother ship is concerned

Thank you for your feedback. We are concerned you feel the culture at Capital Electric is political and communication channels need improvement. Capital currently sends weekly critical information emails, monthly videos and conducts quarterly town hall meetings to update management and associates on the business. While these are great methods, we realize there is always room for improvement. We are continuously striving to improve processes and communication channels. If you would like to discuss your concerns further, we encourage you to reach out to Sonepar USA’s Senior Vice President of Human Resources, Janine McManus.

Thank you for your feedback. We are happy to hear you like the people you work with and have participated in our philanthropy programs. We are concerned that you feel the career opportunities are limited. Sonepar USA provides many tools for associates to grow and develop their careers. Training EDU is our learning management system available to all associates. We also have Career Connections, our internal job posting board, to provide associates an opportunity to apply for new positions within Sonepar Management Group or within our operating companies. It is unfortunate that you were not able to take advantage of these opportunities, but it did allow for 19 SMG associates to be promoted internally in 2018. Communication is also very important to our organization. The Accounts Payable department conducts frequent meetings, so associates can provide feedback on processes and management can update their associates on team progress and changes within our business. Additionally, the Shared Service AP team members are aligned by OPCO allowing for easier collaboration and are encouraged to build relationships and partnerships with Sonepar’ s operating companies. We also provide quarterly Town Hall Meetings to ensure all associates know where the business is currently at. It is unfortunate that you have not been able to experience these scenarios or tools but we encourage you to reach out to your HR Leader to discuss your concerns and to learn more about our career and learning and development opportunities.
