Pros

flexible schedule 401k for part time dependable company with good foundation to last through ups and downs of this still new technology

Cons

Their priorities are a little skewed, I often feel very last on the list of important players. The fact that you are "producing" minutes down the the half second is draining. There is a tiny margin of error when it comes to their money. Tiny as in down to the second. I feel that there is no advocate for the employee, it's just between the FCC and the mighty dollar. Customers are given 4th place in line behind all the middle management, lawyers, back office, etc, maybe then the interpreter. Every time there is a rule specifically stating that you are never supposed to do A, so many months later you will get a rule specifically stating that you need to do A from now on, (to be fair this is sometimes due to FCC rules that come up or improvements in technology.)

Pros

decent hourly pay rate plenty of hours available to the preferred interpreters [meaning you are center managers friend or pet]

Cons

total lack of regard for interpreter quality...no one checks and no management cares about deaf complaints about interpreters firing dozens of RID certified interpreters and hiring uncertified interpreters only because they are cheaper having to sign up for bathroom breaks! god forbid you need to use the bathroom too long or too often. we are robots! total obsession with every minute an interpreter is working. if the billing clock isn't running, then an interpreter is a problem for the company. make interpreters feel like machines. don't care at all about repetitive motion injury. no health benefits either! the clock! the clock! everything is about the clock! don't breathe in between calls! hurry up answer! ridiculous management directives. every week we had a new policy and procedure and god forbid if we had any questions or didn't follow it immediately. made interpreters feel like factory parts. not people. am glad that i am no longer there and I feel sorry for the interpreters still there! take care of yourselves! sorenson won't...
