Pros

If you like high pay but a schedule of uncertainty this may be your "dream job"! As a whole the company has a goal to make this your "last stop" for career path. When you quit someone else always folkows your lead. Almost two years and six driver quit and all of quit in pairs. Don't worry if you make the mistake of hiring in, when you wake up from your nightmare someone will be quoting with you. "FOR YOU ARE NOT ALONE"!.

Cons

Management is young. In the Mobile Service Center the manager started out at 18 with SEFL now 28 and is still really immature when it comes to managing men that in some instances are twice his age. He is very easily intimidated by guys that have been there for years. The "buddy system" is alive and growing in this service center. As a new guy more times than not you will be asked to do the stops or pickups that in some if not all instances the veteran guys refuse to or make excuses not to do. The outbound supervisor is a great guy but is one card short of a full deck. He has made bone headed decisions and loves the "buddy system" I spoke of earlier. You call in at 6 in morning to be told to be there in 30 mins, 45 mins, up to but not limited to a couple hours later. In the slow time of the year you are rotated off days only to see the good ole boys be rotated from the truck but allowed to work the dock for 5-7 hours to make their time.while you the "not good ole buddy" sits at home either without pay or use one of the three personal days or vacation time you have so you don't starve. Oh and all the while still hiring new drivers during this rotation time. No growth oppurtunities due to you have to be in the "kiss behind" click. Pay per hour is fantastic but low for the amount of work you do and they don't pay overtime. They really starting trimming back the hours you put in. They started to cut you down to an averse of 45 or less a week. Plain out a bad mistake and nightmare that you will wish you had woke up before you agreed to go aboard. SEFL Mobile service center is "The Titanic" you don't want to be in!!! Got out as quickly as I could but still gave that place to much of my time and life!

Pros

The transportation industry is probably not the first thing you think of when you think about technology, but Southeastern is on the leading edge of technology in our industry. The trajectory of the use of technology is decidedly upward, and in my opinion, Southeastern is one of the better Java shops in Columbia. As a mid-sized, privately owned company, you will get a fairly wide range of experience. Solid company culture of doing quality work and valuing people, which the company stands by. Better benefits package than most IT shops in town. Fair salary structure. Family feel to the work environment.

Cons

Every job is what you make of it. If you work here and don't really have a desire to grow professionally, you can do that. If you have a desire to learn and improve yourself and the company, you can do that too. The company is over 50 years old, so it still makes use of a lot of older technology. There is a fair amount of COBOL development, so if that's your thing, then go for it; but if you want to do java / web development, make sure you know what the job description is before accepting.

Pros

A weekly paycheck that that make you kill yourself for .

Cons

No overtime. Will hire too many dock workers and drivers and not have enough workload to accommodate. They will look for any reason to fire you during the slow time of year. Seniority means nothing at this company.. Favoritism is all that matters here. The service center in Dallas is ran by a clueless moron. Management is a joke. Equipment constantly breaking down. Pallet jacks and dollies are scarce yet they expect to to make a inside delivery without necessary equipment anyway, even if it means injuring yourself. Dispatch is constantly rushing you from point A to B. Many times the incompetent dispatch will send multiple drivers to the same pick up location on a daily basis then want to know why you're behind lol. They have a high turn over rate. SEFL is always hiring. They hire good experienced, knowledgeable LTL drivers but then either fire them or they quit and all that is left are that do just enough we work to not Get fired. If you come as a driver, be prepared to work the dock for the first year. They will lie to you and tell you you're hired as a p&d driver and then have you taking out the trash, sweeping the dock while dodging fast moving forklifts, sweep the parking lot and clean the bathrooms. They are quick to write you up for ANYTHING or fire you for any reason because they hired too many employees. They constantly threaten you with suspensions or termination. No job security there. No loyalty from management at all. You are just a number. Worse job I ever had. I'm currently searching for another job so I can quit asap.
