Liars and really corporate

Pros

My team and boss are really awesome. The tool is awesome and developed really well.

Cons

Worse than the partisan political silliness is the corporate way Professional Services is run. I hear other departments are run much more like the start up we are. They don't provide 401k or cost of living increases which isn't corporate at all so there is that. They withheld promotions (the only way to increase pay) last year to boost expense ratios for the funding at the end of the year promising to make things right when it was over. They created a bonus plan (which sounded awesome) but when they announced it, the Midmarket side has targets that weren't reachable by anyone. When asked if the targets will be adjusted, the response was 20-25% will meet the targets which was the goal. So withheld any pay raise for a year and then only allow a quarter at best to get any extra pay. Enterprise has targets that are reachable by everyone - which is probably all the ones getting that bonus. They are the favored children, the teachers pet. It feels like forced headcount reduction of the less-than-preferred and with the growth of low cost Argentina workers, it feels like offshoring which is a very corporate unfeeling thing to do.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your experience working at Spiff. We take all feedback seriously and are sorry to hear about your negative experience. We understand that you have concerns about changes in Professional Services, if you're open to having a conversation we would love to chat and learn more. Regarding the lack of a 401k match. We have been open and honest with the team about our intention and goal to match in the future. We have revenue goals to hit for this to become a reality. Culturally, we have designed our compensation philosophy to reward performance. This has been an unexpected time in the economy, and we recognize that this structure presents challenges. If you're open to sharing, I would like to hear more about how this has impacted you and what suggestions you have. We always hope to improve and become better. The only opportunity we have to improve is with feedback. Please reach out to me anytime, I am happy to chat confidentially to learn more about your experience. Thanks! Shi Riddle VP of People

Pros

Spiff has a lot of smart people who come from diverse backgrounds. From my limited research compensation seems to be competitive. Leadership does an amazing job of asking for feedback AND implementing it. HSA contributions. Company-paid Medical, Dental, Vision premiums. Mental health resources. Unlimited PTO Provided with 2 opportunities during my time to swap salary for equity. I feel that we have a TON of potential and are taking the right steps to get there. Very remote-friendly.

Cons

Though there is a framework for it, the career path could be more clear. No 401k match.

Pros

Really smart, dedicated individuals working at Spiff. People care about the success of the business which is awesome to see. Co-workers are typically very eager to help out. Going back to my previous point, most people want to see Spiff succeed, so they don't shy away from helping out even if it's 'outside of their job description'. The product itself is also truly the best in the market, which always makes for a more pleasant experience when you're in sales. It's NOT a "work-hard, play-hard" culture which is so overdone in startups. I work a normal amount and have healthy adult relationships with my colleagues. I come into work every day feeling challenged and like there is still much to learn, but not in a stressful way.

Cons

Spiff is definitely still a start-up -- which isn't necessarily a con -- but it's not for everyone. There are a lot of processes are still being defined/refined so you have to be willing to roll with the punches. Salary is competitive but there is no 401k match at this time.
