Pros

My team were nice and supportive. Compensation was fair for the region.

Cons

A lot turmoil and a lot changes in upper management. Seems to not have a clear goal and often dramatically change course. Mass layoffs are common. I was a part of their layoffs and they did not treat anyone with any respect. Blindsided after we were told we were good. A lot pressure on managers, which then trickles down.

Don't work here

Pros

Individual teams and co-workers are great and always wanted me to succeed, I felt a great sense of comradery and never felt left out

Cons

Management has no idea what they're doing. Priorities constantly shifted and work was just abandoned or thrown out. Whole teams were laid off at the drop of a hat with a 3 minute teams meeting. I don't envy the skeleton teams that still work there.

Mismanaged and Too Aggressive

Pros

Spreetail tends to hire good people that want to make a difference and work hard at their job. It's the teammates you work with every day that made it worthwhile to work there. Unlimited PTO was nice and if you are on the Software & Technology team, you get to work 100% remotely. We were also given a stipend to fill out office equipment although I'm not sure that would be something they would do again if they hire anytime soon.

Cons

Terribly mismanaged from the executives with multiple layoff rounds in three years time. The company laid off employees back in 2019 for a dubious play into become a online storefront. Covid helped accelerate revenue for the company but once again management was too aggressive and unfocused with planning and hiring. Focus was constantly shifting with little-to-no time for teams to pivot showing that leadership was always a step behind on what needed to be done. The poor performance of the company was blamed on that the current state of the economy and eCommerce wasn't "predictable". Did you not attribute your success in 2020 and 2021 to the unusually large injection of free money directly into people's pockets because of a global pandemic? How did you not anticipate future years looking different? Spreetail offered voluntary severance in September with a threatening message to employees who wanted to stick around that you will need to work hard and determine if this is something you really want to do. Bonuses and raises cut for the next two years all to get the company in better standing. Executive compensation was presumably and expectedly untouched. Some who decided to stay and take the cut in compensation were laid off at the beginning of October while a large chunk were laid off at the end of October. While I understand that layoffs happen to the best of companies, the way Spreetail handled it was unbelievably bad. They should be embarrassed that this has happened multiple times in such a short amount of time. If you do decide to work here, make sure your resume is up-to-date at all times.
