Pros

Unlimited time off if your manager approves it. Fair workload. Decently new software stack, except for the monolithic core with a bunch of VB.

Cons

The entire company is dependent on a small number of vendor's products, e.g. intex. Projects are spun up and die within weeks, you may think fail-fast is good, but this is more like thrashing around aimlessly. Company laid off nearly 75% of engineers, both old and new hires. They have done this multiple times.

Tricked. Duped. Deceived.

Pros

- Smart, helpful coworkers - Untracked time off - Health insurance (this is being “revisited” by company leadership) - Work from home

Cons

- Layoffs - Lower than desired pay - CONSTANTLY shifting goal posts for bonuses - Cash bonuses and raises were canceled for 2022 and we’re to be paid in stock units on a 5-year vesting schedule (this was announced ~8 weeks before the big layoff) - Incompetent upper leadership - Engineering priorities changed rapidly, resulting in more work being done to undo partially completed work - Poor communication between departments, leading to lack of adoption for internal software tools - Misled about promotion schedule during recruitment - Company touts possibility of 5% bonus, raise, and stock, but only pays around 2% - “Spreetail Professionals of Color” resource group run mostly by white people - Company “culture” is just meant to make employees drink the Kool-Aid publicly on LinkedIn

Pros

- Startup culture - Freedom/support to try different technologies (could depend on team) - Can grow and get promoted if you are super talented and work hard. Experience level does not matter

Cons

- Pressure to keep up with employees who have been here for a while - Systems are not well defined and there is a chance that many teams are a one (wo)man show ( Meaning one person runs the whole team - be it a manager who has been working here for a while or a developer who worked here a bit longer than others)
